Hi Dawn

Like to ask one more favour. Could you see if in the 1841 Census you can find a Mr Saunders, pawnbroker. Sorry I do not have his first name. Probably in Bethnal Green/Whitechapel area. This is where Theophilus was living and working in 1838.

Many thanks

Malcolm

Hi Dawn

Thanks for looking. I really appreciate it. Had a look at the link and it is possible that he is recorded in the Old Street part of the census which is missing.

Again many thanks

Best Regards

Hi Dawn

I do have this but many thanks for sending it to me. From the index of the 1841 Census I also eventually found "Henrry LUBRECHT" in Bethnal Green and John LIEBRECHT in Kent with the 96th Foot.

John (Daniel), Henry, Ebenezer and Theophilus (my g-g grandfather) were brothers.  The correct spelling of the surname is LIEBRECHT (back in 1786) but as you can see there are several variations. I have not been able to find Theophilus in the 1841 Census - in 1838 he, also was a pawnbroker's clerk (records of the Old Bailey show him as a witness in a theft case) so he should be somewhere but I have not been able to find him in the indexes. Any possibility that you might be able to find him - probably in the Bethnal Green area. In 1842 he joined the 50th Foot so he has to be somewhere in the 1841 Census.

Thanks again for sending me the information

Best Regards

Thanks for the lookup for Thomas Shinkwin. Looks like a visit to Kew and a search of the Muster Rolls for the 50th Foot

Hi Kev

A long shot, but can you look for a Thomas Shinkwin in the Crimea records. He was in 50th Foot. 1851 Census shows him as a Musician Drummer and 1861 Census as a Corporal. Many years ago the family had his Crimea medal with clasps Alma Imkerman and Sebastapol. He was my great-grandfathers's stepson. GG (Theophilus Liebrecht) was also with the 50th Foot from 1842 to 1853. Married Margaret Shinkwin in India 1842 (widow of John Shinkwin of 44th Foot - killed in Khyber Pass.

Thanks a lot

Many thanks. This is definitely one of the family I am looking for. Yet another variation on the spelling to add to the list. Again thanks for the prompt and successful look-up

I should be grateful for a look-up in the 1841 Census - Bethnal Green for the name LIEBRECHT (spelling may be LEBRIGHT or LEDBRIGHT) in Fuller Street, Charles Street or Wardes Row. Wardes Row is on Bethnal Green Road.
