Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / THOMPSON in Nottingham- Please help!
« on: Saturday 14 December 19 22:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I’m wondering if anybody could please help me?
Little bit of back story-
My great grandfather William Edward Thompson was born April 1908 in Wood Green London.
He was son of Etty Brand & James Thompson, brother to Emma, Albert, Sidney, Frank & George (all Thompson’s).
William died in Jan’ 1957 in Nottingham, aged 48.

We believe he married a lady (possibly in Nottingham) and had a daughter (?) somewhere between 1935-1945. However we just cannot seam to link any records together to find out the name of his spouse and possible daughter. He left his wife and partnered my great grandmother Nora Letts Elliott and had my grandmother Norma Jacqueline Thompson in 1946. My gran is desperate to just put names to her possible half sibling, she has no living relatives above her that she could ask any more.
Thank you so much in advance if anyone is able to help, we’d be eternally grateful!
:)

Rosie, thank you so much for your help. It is much appreciated! My grandma will be over the moon to find out that we finally have a name- just so very sad that she’s passed away.

So expanding on this (I won’t ask for names if it’s not possible to post them), do we know if Teresa and her husband had children or not?

It’s so very interesting to find out we somehow have another family link out there- we come from a small family and most have now passed away so it’s been difficult to find the answers to our questions ☺️ Thanks again for all of your help Rosie.

Yes that is their marriage certificate. I believe they could of separated early-mid 40s as my gran was born in 1946

Thank you so much for your help- I didn’t realise we weren’t allowed to post names, I do apologise.

Would the first name of the daughter begin with J? Did she have the same surname as her mother or father?
Hope this doesn’t go against the rules.

Thanks ever so much

We’ve hit a bit of a brick wall on our search.
We know our great/grandfather William Edward Thompson married a lady called Josephine Trevaskiss in Lancashire. Before he split and was with our great/grandmother Nora Letts Elliott.

We believe William and Josephine had a child together around 1935 (possibly called Joan- but this may not be the right name).
Could anybody help me search and further? We’d love to know the name of their child as this would be my grandmothers half sister :)
Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
Wondering if I could help at all. The
Hannah Bagguley from Kegworth that you have come across would of been my great, great grandma. :)
