Hi

There is no concern about a mismatch.  A Herbert Greenwood reported finding the body of Herbert Greenwood Preston.  There are uncertain recollections as to HGP having family connections to Hebden Bridge and to what may have happened on that sad day/day before. Sadly this is cousins attempting to pierce together recollections of things they remember my uncle saying about what was a tragic event, that cast a long shadow.

When I have time I will follow up the new leads.  Thank you

Thanks to both of you. Several family members visited our grandfather's death site separately to mark 80 years. We have yet to establish if the witness who found him was linked to the family or by chance had the grandfather's middle name.  The more you discover the more questions are unearthed.

It all needs time, something rather scarce with work and other projects. But thanks for sharing.

Thanks for these helpful leads,I'll share with my cousin who has built the tree so far.  Yes Johnson did marry twice to women called Emma.

No work has been done as far as we know on the Wright family, there were no children from that marriage. I have the tools as my father cleared the house.

I've unsuccessfully attempted to trace a Herbert Greenwood a teamster (wagon driver) of Hebden Hey or any family. He is quoted in a newspaper report of an inquest in Sept 1939
Houses near Hebden Hey are called Greenwood, but searches in Hebden Bridge are records don't throw up any matches for the family name.
I'm very new to all this, Hebden Hey was swept away after the war and replaced by a scout campsite and their halls/bunkhouses.

My great Grandfather Johnson Preston 1852-1916 was part of a joinery/woodworker in a yard in Haworth, other than the yard is now converted or  built over as housing I know very little. I believe amongst their work were some of the shop fronts in the town. My Dad always insisted that slot head screws were always afixed in line "chapel standard"

Later my great Aunt c 1940 married a Mr Arnold Wright and this brought into the family a set of carpenters tools marked  I J Wright.

Any suggest where I might find more about these two people/companies.

Judith  today I came across a copy of your book on Kirkstall Brewery, whilst researching the history of the site next door, Hollybush Conservation Centre DBC(formerly Farm and c 1870 House)

I am interested in the image on the front cover of the book which shows our outbuildings in the foreground, can you tell me where it is from, I'd like to include it on our study.

This post was the one link I could find to you on Google.
