Hi everyone, I’ve just come across this chat regarding Elizabeth Dickson, she is my 2 x great grandmother, married James Houston (he was actually James McIndoe his mother married my 3 x great grandfather William Houston and he is stated as stepson on Scottish 1851 census) He was illegitimate.

She is a bit of a mystery, as you say her father on her 1st marriage certificate is Edward Dickson, engineer then on her 2nd marriage to Robert McBride she has an alias of Graham. What that is all about I still have not not to the bottom of yet.  I am  leaning towards the Edward Ward Dickson engineer as her father but if anyone else can find real proof of her birth etc I would also be very grateful.

Unfortunately I cannot find a birth registration for James McIndoe/Houston so I’m stuck on him also!

I have just discovered a website for the old Shankill Burying Ground, Belfast, if that is what you are looking for it is -  www.cambraistreet.co.uk and they are listed in alphabetical order.

I hope this is of use

Okay I think you’ve cracked it! Thanks so much for all your research and I will pass this all on to Annette Morrow in Australia!  She hails from the Thomas Morrow and Eliza Hill family although she said she has a half brother on her father’s side (don’t know the full story) but I think she will find this interesting.

Thanks again for all your help.

Yes, I thought it had to be in the Ballintra area but it’s long gone off any maps that I can share with Annette Morrow!
