Leitrim / Mary McMorrow
« on: Wednesday 30 September 20 09:43 BST (UK)  »
I would love to find out more about my Great Grandmother Mary McMorrow. She was born in Leitrim 17/03/1849. She arrived in New Zealand on the ship Orari in 1876. She was listed as a nurse. She married my Great Grandfather George Dyer in 1878. Died in Auckland NZ in 1916. I have no other information.

Isle of Man / Bell family

Hi. I am looking for information on Thomas Bell b 1823. He married Eleanor Crellin who I think had two children from a previous marriage. In the 1861 census his address is listed as Kirk German Cronk Dhoo. Is this an area or settlement? His son William Bell b 1859 Parish German, Isle of Man. He immigrated to New Zealand as a single young man and worked as a carpenter. I believe he worked
with his brother Thomas who had immigrated previously in 1879. William died in Auckland in 1941.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Yes I am quite sure Christina McKinney was born in Scotland. I have her family tree and there are good records of her life in NZ. Thank you.

Hi Capt Jock. Sorry about the delay in replying. There is such a lot of information there. I will certainly read up the Irish history on the subjects you mention.
From what I have found my ancestors arrived on the Maraval from London. It sailed on 15 October 1878 and arrived in Auckland on 26 January 1879. They were James and Christina McKinney. Christina’s maiden name was Murrie and she was Scottish. They married in Lanarkshire Scotland. They had one child and another was born at sea. She was named Sarah Maraville McKinney.
They lived in Auckland for a time and then purchased land in Glenbrook. They are buried there. I haven’t found a link with the Katikati McKinneys so far.
I don’t have any comment about the World Cup except it is good for rugby to share it around!!!
Thank you so much for all your info. I really appreciate people taking the time. Kind regards. Ngatimoti71
