hi everyone - especially those to whom I might be related.
I am also descended from a Dehon - John born in about 1885 in Hokitika, New Zealand. He moved to Australia and eventually changed his name to Jack Dean - apparently to stop his association with Louis George Dehon I have heard. My grandmother wasn't married to Dehon - as he had a wife and several other children apart from his 2 with Mum and her younger brother. I've been working on the family tree for years and only recently discovered the association. They all lived (happily?) together at 31 White Street Leichhardt NSW at around the same time, and there are several Dehons listed at that address if you are missing any key evidence. (found in census and street directories of the 1920-30s). good luck in your searches - i'd love to hear from any you if you have more info - especially photographs which i haven't been able to trace as yet.
