Thanks for the information and for taking the time to look it up. Everything is now beginning to fall into place and making more sense.

Thanks for all input. I must have been given incorrect information......the person in question who is now dead maybe confusing some of the names.

Can anyone help with the following please?  Some ago I was given some information but can find nothing to back it up, it has puzzled me for a long time. I was told by a reputable source that A Samuel Brooks (my Grandad) born 1880 married a Anne Bainbridge (daughter of Thomas and Emma Bainbridge.. The only marriage I can find for this Samuel was to a Florence Bridgewood or (Bridgwood) which took place in Middleton by Wirksworth.

Many thanks for the information. This could be the family. On my Gt. Grandad's death certificate his shows his father as being Michael Dougan, but I cannot find a death notice for him...it would have to be before 1851 if his wife remarried in 1851. You have given me something to go on, so not quite back to the drawing board again.. Where did you get the information about marriages taking place in register offices? Christine.

Hi. Can anybody help?
On the 1861 Census. I have the following living at Gould Street Manchester. John Daley Born 1845. Michael Daley born 1848 and Timothy Daley born 1854.
I cannot find them on the 1871 Census.
On the 1881 census they are now livng  at 47 Garnett Street Cheetham, Manchester.
but their names have changed as follows. Timothy is now Daly (probably a typo error) Michael has become Derrigan and John has now become Dougan.  I can find no second and third marriage for their mother. Should I take it that she has remarried twice between  1861 and 1881. Or could it be that her husband has passed away and she has moved in with someone else?

It does link somewhere.  Ann McGuinness the wife of Michael Dougan my great grandfather lived at 19 Garnet street. This was given as her address on the marriage certificate in 1886 but so far I cannot link the information to 45 Garnet street. But I am going to look further into it...there is a link somewhere.  Many thanks for your help.
