Hi,
I'm trying to find information on someone who was in the Merchant Navy. All I have is his name, no idea when he was in the Merchant navy but he used to go to reunions in Blackpool.
Kind Regards

Hi,
Thank you, yes indeed the ages were different but Robert Roberts in all the Census records is a constant born 1844. He is on the 1901 census but none afterwards, so we presume he died in 1906, but too common a name to fully prove he is ours and not a relation who registered the death. I think there was an inquest.
Jane is living with her daughter Mary Ann now a Williams and her husband Edward Williams on the 1911 census, not on the next census. But again a common name. It would be nice to find where they are buried, but so far we haven't been able to find them.
Kind Regards

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. We did go and have a look in St.Marcella Cemetery and Llanrhaiadr, not sure about the other one. I'll have to ask my mam. We didn't have any luck really but now have a vague idea that Robert Roberts might have died 1906, it's a case o proving that he is my 3x Great Grandfather. His wife was 86 on the 1911 census living with her daughter in Llanfwrog, but isn't buried in the churchyard there. So still a puzzle after all these years.
Kind Regards

Wow, Thank you for that link, amazing photo's. I'll have to research Alwena Roberts now to see if there's a link or she was just a family friend.

Thank you for your time. I should have been more specific. I think Miss Cwm would be like a Pageant like Miss World. I was wondering if there had been a parade or such but Cwm is only a small village.

Denbighshire / Miss Cwm 1946

Hi,
I have found a photograph amongst my late aunts photos, it is a one inch square black and white photo of a woman and on the back it says Miss Cwm 1946. I'm not sure if it says love Maud or Mair, which may not help at all. I'm curious just in case she is related in any way. I have tried to google but haven't managed to find anything out.
Kind Regards

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: unrecognisable occupation on 1901 census

Hello Wilcoxon,
What a surprise to see your post. Thank you for your continued interest and help in my Robert Roberts. In the past 9 years we have discovered nothing further on him. I did send for the death certificate but unfortunately it just contained inquest details and nothing of next of kin, so I wasn't able to conclusively say this was the correct Robert Roberts. I do believe it is him, I just can't prove it. We also have seen the burial in Eglwyswen Church and don't think it's the correct one for us. Robert's wife Jane has also been difficult to prove her death. She was 86 on the 1911 census living with her daughter. I bought a certificate for same age Jane Roberts but she died in workhouse with the master noted as the next of kin. The newspaper clippings you sent links to were very interesting. Unfortunately the one with the funeral notice mentioned he had 3 children, which indeed he did by the time he died as one of his daughters died in 1903 after childbirth. But it didn't mention a widow, so I can't use that as proof that it was my Robert Roberts either and the only mention in the inquest newspaper article to family was just that, sympathies to the family, I suppose that's how they did it back then. But I thank you very much for your input, it's very much appreciated.
Kind Regards

Shropshire / Re: Price family Oswestry

Hi Darryl,
I have done a DNA test on one of the genealogy sites. As far as I know Edward Price left Oswestry to build a Church in Birmingham but I'm not too sure on his 2 children. I haven't researched them for a long time.
Kind Regards
