Hi Laura,

Many thanks for your swift response, my great great great grandparents were John and Hannah Symonds and my great great grandmother was Ann (Symonds) Loveridge. i have had my DNA done and it is shown on Ancestry and My Heritage sites so i am assuming that we are both connected by DNA and obviously related. I have recently received Ann's marriage cert which shows a marriage to Henry Loveridge and am more than willing to forward a copy for your files. Pderhaps we could exchange emails.
Anne's children were Rosetta Loveridge, William Loveridge my great grandfather and Mary Ann Loveridge. We can not find a death for Henry Loveridge but Ann is on the 1851 census and indexed as a Widow. For a number of years  we have been trying to find out who Henry's father was but to no avail. The 1851 census shows Henry's mother Elizabeth to be living with nher daughter in Law and she is also indexed as being a widow.. On the marriage cert it shows that Frederick Symonds and also Caroline Symonds were witness to the marriage but i have not been able to ascertain how they were related to Ann.
Would love a photo of Elizabeth as that would give me some idea of what my great great great grandmother would have looked like.
I live in Bristol but was born in South Wales. thank you once again for contacting me, we have very little on Anne and her husband Henry.
Very best

Hello With regard to the initial message regarding John Symonds, i've tried putting a message on here for the originator as I believe we must be related.
My name is Ken Williams and my great great great grandparents would have been John and Hannah .  Symonds, Their daughter Ann Symonds is shown as being aged 17 on the 1841 census and she is my great great grandmother.
On Friday i received a copy of he marriage certificate and Ann married Henry Loveridge on the 27th November 1842 at the Parish Church Newent.. Henry Loveridge's father is not indicted on the Marriage Cert we do know that his mother was Elizabeth Loveridge born Red Marley. Henry Loveridge was Christened at Newent on March 7th 1818. Henry and Hannah had three children Rosetta, William and Mary Ann. William was born circa 1845 and he was my great grandfather. We have twi enigmas
1) Can noit find a marriage for Henry's mother Elizabeth Loveridge born 1772 we think he might have been  illigitimate
2) We have searched for a death for Henry but can not locate one the 1851 census shows  Elizabeth as being indexed a widow and living withn her daughter in law.
Can anyone enlighten us onour two enigmas and perhaps help us to contact the person who initially enquired about John Symonds.
Very best

« on: Thursday 07 March 24 23:08 GMT (UK)  »
In reference to my message regarding Thomas Davies born 1861 Herefordshire. thank you for the replies.
He is the the Nephew of James Davies(born 1835 Tupsley,  Herefordshire. His daughter Rose Davies was born in the UK possibly Herefordshire or Nantyglo, Pontlottyn, Blaenafon area.  His father Thomas Davies (born 1841  Tupsley, Herefordshire )was living in the Pontlottyn area 1891. We are not sure when Thomas Davies (born 1861) left for South Africa but Rose Davies his daughter was with him. There is a verbal family story tht his wife ? died during the crossing from the UK to South Africa. Thank you once again to those of you who replied

i have not much to go on and i am hoping that someone can help.
i am researching my great great Uncle Thomas Davies, born Herefordshire 1861. His parents were Thomas Davies born  1841Tupsley, Herefordshire. mother Martha Davies. His brother my great great grandfather was James Williams born circa 1835 and his wife was Jane Morris
i have Thomas Davies on the 1881 census living with his Uncle James at Pwlldu, Blaenafon. After that I lose Thomas (born 1861).
i have been told that he went to South Africa, no knowledge of his wife but he had a daughter called Rose Davies.
We believe he might have sailed on a ship named St Helena but that is only family verbal history.
Hope someone can help

Monmouthshire / John Williams born 1884
« on: Tuesday 16 January 24 10:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, i am hoping yet again that my friends on Rootschat can help out once more.
Researching the Williams family can be a minefiled. I know have chapter and verse on the family of George Williams born 1852, who married Sarah Ann Wilkins, Blaenafon. however one of his sons eludes me and that is John Williams born Blaenafon 1884.
All i have on John Williams is the 1891 census for Blaenafon, showing the family to be living at Black House, Blaenafon. Apart from this i have no details on him.
hope someone can help

Hello Haines. thanks for your time and help. The census  does say the George who died in 1896 was born in Clodock but the other census' indicate he was born in Blaenafon. His mother was mary Ann (Powell) Williams was certainly born in Clodock.
i have checked the parish records for Clodock but have been unable to find a birth for George in 1852 at Clodock.. The George who died in 1876 still remains a mystery.
ypur help very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello Haines. thanks for you responses With regard to George Williams died  1976 Killed by a kick fom a horse, he was born in 1852 the same year as George Williams who died 1896.

i have tried searching for George Williams born 1852 died 1876 on the 1871 census with the help of another cousin but no joy at the moment. He was a servant on the farm when killed and would have been aged about 24 years old.

Every thing points to George Williams who died in 1896 as being my true relative. but i need to eliminate George Williams who died 1876.
Thanks for you help
