Hello all Pegg researchers,
I have recently traced my father's line to a matrilineal branch of Peggs in Colton, Staffordshire, possessed of a property in Colwich called Newlands in the 1700s. The wills of the male heirs of this family all identify themselves as "Gent" rather than "Yeoman". The earliest representative of this line is Thomas Pegg, born approx 1650. We have a release of Newlands by Elizabeth Pegg to her son Thomas on 1 January 1684. How this Pegg family ties into other branches is unclear to me. Does anyone have information on this branch?
Thanks so much.
