Yes, a lot of tragedy. But the last four children all made it to adulthood.

"Daughter listed is Mary Kate #1"  typing too fast....  Correction, that would be Mary Kate #2 in 1861. All siblings to my grandmother died of TB related illnesses.

Elizabeth Hassick born 21 Apr 1861
Siblings  Mary Kate Hassick  b 10 Oct 1852 KLynn, d 28 Sep 1857 Hartlepool
        James Hassick  b ~Apr 1855 H'pool, d 23 Jun 1856 H'pool
        Jemima Hassock  b~Apr 1857 H'pool, d 13 Jan 1858 H'pool
        Mary Kate Hassock #2, b ~Dec 1858 H'pool, d 16 Dec 1861 H'pool
        John Samuel Hassock  b ~Aug 1863 H'pool, d 23 Jan 1864 H'pool

The 1861 census under Hussch family is a really bad transcription of Hassock. :) Daughter Mary listed is Mary Kate #1.

Right. Crazy, but I had never considered an Ireland marriage. Because 1851 census and subsequent have multiple Healeys listed at William St in Hartlepool, which is where Ellen's daughter Elizabeth (my great-grandmother was born). Also possible that there was no marriage at all of course, but I'm hoping that John and Ellen were a conventional couple.  How likely that the marriage took place at St. Mary's and didn't make it into the FreeBMD index?  I've tried several wild card searches to locate... must keep on...

oh sorry! 1851 census index on Find My Past is for Hassick. I thought you had a source for the marriage date besides the St. Mary's register as you propose the marriage took place in Ireland.

Oh my goodness, that was a fast response!  Yes Ellen was born in County Cork.  Where are looking to see the Harrick record??

Hello, I'm hoping someone can find the 1851 or so marriage date of John Samuel Hassick and Ellen Healy (my great-great-grandparents).
I did find the baptism transcription of their first child Mary Kate Hassick for 24 Oct 1852 (born 10 Oct 1852). The parents were given as Samuel Hassick and Joanna Healy.
The 1851 census puts John Hassick age 25 mariner, with his wife Ellen age 20 at New Checker St, 7 Spencer Square, parish of All Saints, South Lynn. The couple had moved to Hartlepool by 1855 which is where all other children were born. I tried checking the St Mary RC marriages (yes, same church name) in Hartlepool but no joy, so I think if they married, it really was in King's Lynn area.  Hassick is also known as Hassock, father James Hassick also a mariner.  Ellen is also known as Eleanor, father Simon Healy/Heley, also a mariner.
Huge thanks to anyone who takes on this lookup request.   /DaleM
