Ireland / Re: history of surname Macale

well, its a possibilty but,

i am based in  Australia, and the 2 brothers and 1 sister who came out here from Ireland started and ran a Cattle station(farm) called Greenvale sometime in the late 19th century.

so it's likely that they were literate and would have picked up on a mis-spelling.

also an online search of the Irish Golden pages telephone directories shows a number of Macale's listed

i am also told that a few years back, some people from Ireland came out to try to map the Australia branch of the Macale tree, but their Visa's ran out before the could get very far.

this might be a fruitless search, but something might turn up. ::)

Thankyou

G'day all,

not sure if anyone can help me, but i am trying to trace the history of my surname.

i haved searched the internet and have found a little information but not much.

i have been told that Macale is not a common name and that it is possibly an Irish/Scot almagamation.

i am a novice to geneaology, so if anyone could help me it would be great

Thanks
Dion Macale
