Newspaper says eldest son of William and Mrs J Moss!

Does that mean Eliza died shortly after the marriage?

The bride was given away by her grandfather Mr Charles Downs.

So without appearing thick, her mother's maiden name was Downs.

How does Mrs J Moss fit into this?

Is she a 2nd wife?

You might be looking at the wrong man in the 1911 census?

I was told that he was born 1908 Sheffield and died aged 76, so that would make death 1984.

I can find no birth for that date so assume they remembered it incorrectly.

But there is a Barnsley one Dec 1910.

I need to check with them that he's not the one I want instead of Sheffield!

If they're the couple in Derbyshire in 1939 - his DOB is 27 May 1910.

The other fellow (from Wombwell) is married to another woman in the 1939 Regsiter.

Which is different to what's written on the census form. 23 or 27/4/1911

Will it have possibly been transcribed incorrectly?

Looking for clarity on his whereabouts in 1911

DEATH OCT 1983 • Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England

I think i have the correct birth date/place as only one George born around that time.

So that would make him a month or so old.

Census says 4/12.

Birth Place   

Wombwell, Yorkshire, England

But I believe he was born Sheffield according to BMD

I know that his wife was Florence E Smith married July 1934.

In FreeBMD there is a gap in the Boden/Naylor births between 1925-1933.

Father Ernest died 1926.

Just been told that the last 3 children father's name was Cooper, but they never married.

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/ includes marriages, which are not on the GRO site.  Generally has more flexible searching but does not include age at death before 1866, nor mother's maiden surname before 1912.

Also try exploring http://www.sheffieldindexers.com/

e.g. search Burial Records for Ernest Boden, he was buried in 1926.
Click on "Find Similar in Same Grave" and there is Ellen buried 1986, also another person who may be related.  Various other indexes on this site.

That throws a spanner in my works! ???

I was told that his mother was Ellen Naylor and father was Ernest, but Ernest died 1926 according to this!

Can't find a record to say that she remarried and had another 3 children including Brian!

She out lived him by 60 years!
