The car with the CC registration plate in the photo with your Grandfather was registered in Caernarvonshire. As there was little motor car manufacture in the war years, the cars are likely to be 20's or 30's. Unfortunately this doesn't help you date the photo more accurately.
I am going to contact the Hospital Saturday Fund to see if they have any records of when Plas Mariandir may have been used in the war years. Eric

His Granddad is on the right

My dad in the centre. He lost his left foot in WW2 and has an artificial leg . The chap on his right seems to have a similar walk to my dad and I think he may have an artificial right leg.

Steve has some great photos which he will put on later.
I found these the other day.

Hi Steve. My father was injured in 1944 and spent some months at Plas Mariandir in Deganwy. I have a photo of him and other patients on the steps of the building and you should be able to see it on the original RootsChat . It must have been taken between 1944 and 1950. I am interested in the photos and post cards.
The Plas Mariandir building was built in 1935 as part of the Manchester and Salford Hospital Saturday Fund as a convalescent home, as there was no National Health Service at the time, and you paid a weekly subscription to be a member. I am assuming the military used it during and after WW2 for wounded soldiers etc, and this may be why your Grandfather was there.
Was your Grandfather from the Manchester area.
I guess from your Roots name you may be in Australia.
We visited  Plas Mariaonly last week. It is in Deganwy near Llandudno, Wales.
I was shown round by Alan Williams, (Humphpaul on Roots) who now lives there as it has been converted into retirement homes.
I will message you my email address.
Regards Eric
