The original Barnsley Grammar opened in the 1600s was on Church Street nearly opposite the current town hall. I think it is now the art gallery. The grammar school was moved to Shaw Lane 1912? I studied there in the 60s.

Yes I have some dubious links on Ancestry. I have records of John C & Betty Cock and possible parents of John - also John 1755-1823 married to Margaret Armistead in 1784 but I need to verify these. Also a possible photo of Arthur and a family pic.

Hi, I have just joined rootschat because I googled Catlow and your post came up. I am researching my wife’s side of the family and Arthur Catlow is her 2nd great gf. We live in Blackpool and I see you’re not far away in Kirkham. Do you have a tree on Ancestry? If so, perhaps we could share information.
