Not sure? I'm going through the Pitschen records now, so I'll look out for a Adolph Rudolph Rosenblatt.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed! This is so much more than I expected!
It's good to finally have some clarity about the location being Pitschen, Kreuzburg, Oppeln, Schlesien, Preussen

Fiddlerclass: Thanks for the link to the history of Pitschen. I'll have to try translate it, but that's a great find. Especially interesting mentioning the Ziegeleri too. Like his father Wilhelm, the son Wilhelm Emil Oskar Rosenblatt also became a Ziegelmeister.

davecapps: I've never been able to find the birth record, so this is a bonus! Thank you! I'm now learning to navigate the https://www.szukajwarchiwach.gov.pl/en/strona_glowna website in the hope I might discover other family members too. I will try to find a death records, as I believe both his parents were deceased before he married in 1873. There was a brother born abt. 1854. I don't know if he has any other siblings.

Here's the death certificate.

The Common Room / Am I reading this place name correctly? PITSCHEN, Silesia, Prussia
« on: Wednesday 27 August 25 11:16 BST (UK)  »
I'm researching Wilhelm Emil Oskar Rosenblatt who I believe was born at a place called Pitschen, Silesia, Prussia on 23 Apr 1850.

I have two sources, with both being different (see attached):

• A marriage record which looks to say Wilhelm was born Pitschen. There are three Pitschen, with two being in Silesia: https://www.meyersgaz.org/search?search=Pitschen
If it is Pitschen, how do I know which of the two it might be?

• A death certificate which looks to say 'Pitzcaen' which I can't find, so could it be that it was not recorded correctly?

Any thoughts? I've been puzzling over this for a while.

Any assistance would be appreciated thanks.

Hi Nola & Lyngen,

I know this is an old post, but I just came across this and I'm also researching Caesar Springfield.

My husband is a descendant from Samuel Springfield who moved to Australia. I'd be interested in getting in touch and sharing any information that I've found about both Caesar and Samuel. I'm a little stuck on uncovering Caesar's early life before he appeared in Brooklyn records around 1817.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Regards,
Lisa
