Can anyone reading this post point us towards a media outlet or historical group in Co. Mayo who may be able to help?   Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you to @Kiltaglassan The Tithe Applotment Books show an Edmond Ruddy in the Townland of Ratheskin.  No way to prove this is the same Edmond as shown in the Baptismal records of 1831 but we can but hope!!!!

In researching the Catholic Registers on #ancestry.com we have found a John Ruddy who was baptised in Aug 1831 in the Parish of Killala.  His parents were Edmond Ruddy and Sarah (Sally) Caralin.  The sponsors were John and Brigid Ruddy.  We cannot prove this is the same John who is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rasharkin but we are hoping this helps us unite this young man with a family connection.

Attached here is the headstone for John Ruddy. Our only interest here is to connect any current Ruddy family members with this sad story of a young man a long way from home.

Mayo / John Ruddy of Killala, Co. Mayo

In a recent visit to my home village of Rasharkin, Co. Antrim and whilst visiting our local cemetery, my brother Anthony and I were introduced to the story of John Ruddy of Killala, Co. Mayo who died on the 4th June 1853 and is buried in Rasharkin.

John was an ordinance surveyor and died at the age of 22 years young. He was clearly a long way from home and it would fantastic to connect his story with members of the Ruddy family who may have him in their family trees.

Kindest Regards,

Hi All, came across this discussion recently whilst researching a possible family connection to the Courtney Family from Portglenone.  I’m wondering if during your research XBWVTyou came across a Charlotte Courtney born circa 1811. My connection would be that she married a Archibald Boardman circa 1832.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
