The Common Room / Re: Cremation ...?

I would have suggested looking for a Will but with the big price increase…..

A great aunt left instructions in her Will to be cremated and her ashes to be added to her mother’s grave. Complicated as great aunt died in Somerset and the grave was in Kent…..and it was during WW2 ……took 7 years but it was carried out.

His marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of his father. Sometimes a family member (brother, cousin etc) appears as a witness.

Using that information you can look for him on English census records.

Have you looked for a local family history society who might have a member who could help?

Death certificate in Poole but usual address in Acton;  could the death have happened when on holiday?

Have you looked for his death in Acton?  Did his wife leave a Will?

Anything on the  Family Search site?  Some might have emigrated.

Have you looked at the records available on Scotland's People site?

It could be  'private' which indicates a baptism at home if the child was unlikely to survive.

It is 1771; the record on FindMyPast has been mistranscribed as the image on that site clearly shows 1771.

I have reported the error.
