His marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of his father. Sometimes a family member (brother, cousin etc) appears as a witness.

Using that information you can look for him on English census records.

Death certificate in Poole but usual address in Acton;  could the death have happened when on holiday?

Have you looked for his death in Acton?  Did his wife leave a Will?

It could be  'private' which indicates a baptism at home if the child was unlikely to survive.

It is 1771; the record on FindMyPast has been mistranscribed as the image on that site clearly shows 1771.
