This photo is a tintype (magnet sticks to it) about 2 x 3 inches.  It is from a photo album handed down from daughter to daughter on my mother's side of the family and many of the people my grandmother was unable to identify.
A co-worker believes the person is wearing a conductor's uniform.  There is a person in our tree who worked for the railroad.  If someone can please tell me if this is indeed a conductor's uniform and an approximate year the photo might have been taken I may be able to attach a name to him.

I also have the same size/type photo of a family taken outside of a house.  Would someone please let me know if you can tell when this photo was taken and if the man in the uniform looks like the man in the family photo?

LOL you didn't scare me away.  Sometimes there are long gaps in the time I can spend on my research due to my wacky work schedule and other obligations (doing taxes in this case).

I did rescan her at the most resolution my computer and scanner software would allow but haven't had a chance to reload her.  I think the most I could scan it at was 3400 dpi. I didn't see much, if any, improvement so it might have already been scanned at the highest I could get.

This is an unidentified lady from the  Family Album passed down from my mother. It may have been taken in New Orleans, Louisiana, where my Great Grandmother, Lelia Cecilia Meilleur, was born.

I would very much appreciate it if someone would be able to give me an idea of when it might have been taken.

It's a tintype (magnet attracted) appx. 2x3". The original is very dark- like a negative, I lightened it some.

I have a family album that dates back to the 1800s and into the mid 1900s. Most are photos from Louisiana and Kentucky.

Did people arrange their photos in any certain order back then?

If so knowing this would go a long way toward identifying some of the people.

The first page is a wedding photo of my great grandmother (Lelia) and ggrandfather (Melchior).

The next 8 pages are baby pictures of their 7 children in the order they were born in. (only seven children there was one photo of the first two boys together)

10. an older couple who are believed to be the grandparents of Lelia.

14. has space for three photos two small and one regular size. One small is a tintype of an unknown female person. The larger space has a picture of Lelia’s mother. (The other small space is empty).
