IsobelB - I have sent you a personal message.

For all interested - Critchley isn't with his parents.

I am beginning to wonder - because he died during WW1 - did some record keeping go awry during that awful period.

Maybe some of the burial records have been lost during the war period, it would be interesting to know if anyone has any comments on this subject.

If he wasn't married, he might have been buried in a family grave with his parents. Strange though - in view of all the records around for Lancashire burials, that we can't find him.

Incidentally, Deceased on Line, which covers the Blackburn Cemeteries, does include cremations - so it doesn't seem that he was buried or cremated at those cemeteries.

Have you found his parents' burials please?

We havent found Critchley's parents burial place but Critchley Almonds parents are Richard & Mary Almond who lived in Blackburn.
Richard was born in 1828 & died 21 March 1899, Mary was born in 1826 & died in 1902 both in Blackburn.

Did he leave a Will?

You might find a burial request there;  one of my gt.aunts left a request to have her ashes placed in her mother's grave.  Gt. aunt died in Somerset but her mother's grave was in Kent.  Only discovered that by buying a copy of her Will (£1.50).

We have a copy of Critchley's will but there's no mention of any requests relating to the burial or laying of the ashes.

(There is a thread here https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=808234.msg6675496#msg6675496 about Critchley Almond.

In reply #7 it says that he is buried at the churchyard of Immanuel Church Oswaldtwistle, which is where he was living at the time of the 1911 census.)

Since the above was posted we have now found out that Critchley Almond isn't recorded as being buried in the Immanuel Church churchyard as above.

An article in Burnley News says that his address had been 2 Grimshaw Well, Padiham and that he died on 14 November 1915.

This was his registered home address before he became ill, I think the death record was put in the local newspaper to announce the death of Critchley in connection his will etc.
I know that he had a brother John James Almond who lived on Ivy Street in Blackburn which was very close to Blackburn Royal Infirmary, my thoughts are that he could have become ill whilst visiting his brother, admitted to the hospital & died there.
As far as I am aware he was never married.

Family History Beginners Board / Searching for a grave/burial place location record.
« on: Saturday 26 October 24 16:00 BST (UK)  »
I've been searching for the grave/burial place record for my ancestor Critchley Almond who was born in Blackburn on the 23rd of August 1853 and died on the 14th November 1915 in the Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Unfortunately I havent had any success finding out any information as to where he was actually buried after searching the well known births, marriages & deaths web sites, although my assumption is that he was buried somewhere in or around the Blackburn area.
Any guidance as to where I could possibly find out this burial information would be much appreciated.

I'm having difficulty finding this post, how do I access the Lancashire board to see it?
