Thanks Mike - I can see that I will have to try and find another opportunity to make the trek to Leicester - hopefully it won't take another 10 years or so to get back as it did this time around!

My parents seem to think that they found the gravestone of my Great Grandmother propped against a wall several years ago. I was hoping to be able to see if there were others but went to Syston cemetery instead of Queniborough then ran out of time!

I will have to see if I can find some burial records on a CD from LFHS or somewhere, although without a clear idea of dates this could be a bit hit and miss.  I will certainly contact the Record Office to see what information they might have available.

Thanks for the information Frances - I will carry on looking and will do as you suggest. Hopefully as time goes on more information will become available online.

Leicestershire / Help With Newbold Burial Information
« on: Tuesday 28 February 06 15:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi - I wonder if anybody might be able to help!?

The Newbold side of my family were essentially farm labourers from Rutland, and those I am closest to were from Syston and Queniborough. I am trying to find out how I might establish where they might have been buried. I went to Syston Cemetery yesterday and a gentleman looked through the plot registers for the early 1920s and we couldn't find any Newbolds there, but I now understand that my Great Grandparents Tom and Daisy (Florence Elizabeth Daisy) Newbold were most likely buried at Queniborough.

As I live on the south coast I am not able to get to Leicester as much as I would like (yesterday was the first time in almost 15 years!) so I am hoping for a way to find burial records remotely - am I likely to be successful?

Thanks!
