There's a book on the workhouse - 'Newcastle-in-Emlyn Union & Workhouse' by Ken Jones, 2011, ISBN 0955662516, which you may be able to get secondhand somewhere

I'm not sure how many chapels there are/were in Ystumtuen by the Cardiganshire FHS has the Monumental Inscriptions booklet available for one of them. It can be purchased direct from the FHS or, I assume, from Family Chest.

Unfortunately there is no confirmation that the Jones' in America actually did come from Gelli gynnar. I guess that unless the family can confirm the link then something like DNA would be necessary. Seems that there is no hard evidence at this time - unless there is more information available.

Only just seen this.  If I recall correctly, it is thought that James did emigrate to America and he later became a coal mine and steel works owner in Pennsylvania.  A web site setting out the companies history suggests that he came from Pentrecagal in Penboyr parish.
