Roxburghshire / Re: George WALDIE of Melrose

A big thank you to everyone trying to help me - I havent pinned George Waldie down yet - the Parish Register for Melrose is super.  Although George says on the 1851 census his birth place is Melrose its possible he came from a place near by.  The George Waldie buried in Melrose Abbey Churchyard could well be his father.  George himself is buried in Hull so its family members I was looking for in Melrose Churchyard.  I really appreciate everyones time and effort.  Not sure where to go from here.

Thanks but I feel it has to be earlier unless he wasnt baptised until much later.  He was married in 1802 and his first child was 1803 he had to have come down from Scotland to Lincolnshire got married and then gone to Hull and had his first child.  I need him to be born about 1779 or before. BUT its possible.

Kevin I dont know if you can help - I have George Waldie born about 1779 - my 3rd Great Grandfather on the 1851 census - he married in Lincolnshire then lived in Hull, East Yorkshire.  The 1851 states Melrose, Roxburghshire as his place of birth.  Try as I have I cannot locate his family.   He was a Millwright and named his children - Jane, Mary Ann, George, Margaret, James and Archibald.  Could you help in any way?  I live in Australia.  Regards Val.
