Library and FHS Lookups / Anyone going to KEW - mariners record needed PLEASE!!
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 22:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

I have recently undertaking the in-laws research for a Wedding Anniversary present in May.  I live in Wales and are appealing for anyone visiting Kew to help.

I have found 3 mariners in the family and these are their details:
Harry (Henry) Brading b.1852 Carisbrooke Isle of Wight
sailed out of Southampton between 1924 and 1938 and became a master mariner.

Harry Brading b.1884 Isle of Wight, Mariner

Charles Brading b.1865 Isle of Wight (a mariner on 1881 census)

I understand the Examination for certificate of competency, the Application for Certificate and Register of Apprentices may hold useful information. (Ref: BT318 (1913-1935), BT352 (1910-1930) and BT317 (1917-1968))

I would be extremely grateful if anyone can help me, Thank you.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / DANIELS 1841 Census-Isleworth? pls
« on: Thursday 19 January 06 23:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hello!
I wonder if anyone can help me.  I would like to find my 3rd great grandfather in the 1841 Census, which should help me see if my 2nd great grandfather, Charles, had any brothers or sisters.

Samuel DANIELS b.c1814, Elmsted, Kent  wife Eliza b.c1813 Lampton, Middlesex.  (Married in 1839, Brentford)

In the 1851 census they were living in Isleworth Square with their son, Charles.

Thank you for your time and help  :) :)

Hi Rick,
I'd forgotten about the Daniels posting of '04! Just proves to show it's a good idea to check over old ideas and recently unused sites!
Thank you so much for giving me this extra insight into my great-grandfather.
All the best

Hi!
I'm wondering if anyone has 1851/61 census infomation for Middlesex (parish maybe Isleworth).

I am interested in Charles DANIELS b.22nd September 1842 in Isleworth, Middlesex. (d.16th April 1916 in Portsmouth, Hants).  Either census would be great as I'm looking for any information on his parents and where his spent his childhood.

Your help will be gratefully received!
Thanks, Vic.

Family History Beginners Board / I'd just like to say thanks!

I'm fairly new to genealogy, although I had done some local researching some years ago, it wasn't as intensive!
I'm loving my new hobby and so are my family.  I  have to keep writing letters to update them on my finds!
None of this however would have happened without this wonderful site and the fab people here.  I'd just like to say thanks for everyone's hard work and for making us feel so welcome.
Cheers Vic.

Ireland / Has anyone heard of the KEARNS
« on: Friday 11 June 04 22:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I am currently trying to track down my grandmothers side of the family namely the KEARNS.
I am looking for a Michael John Kearns.  He was born in Ireland abt 1855 +/-5yrs (county unknown) and became a Royal Marine.
He married Sarah PHILIPS (Orig. Kent)  but I have no idea when they married.  They went on to have 5 boys and 1 girl.
All searches have drawn blanks so far so I would be pleased to hear from anyone!!
Happy searching!
Vic
