Tyrone / Love family of Strabane
« on: Tuesday 20 October 20 20:31 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any info on the Love family from Strabane.. Robert "of Strabane" Love(1655-1722), wife Catherine Granger(1655-1710). They had a son Robert "of Ballyfoliard" Love(1682-1758), married a Mary ?. Many of the descendants migrated to the state of Ohio in the USA. My 3rd gt. grandfather was William Love, born sometime late 1700s, county Tyrone, married a Jane Irwin and they migrated to the Ontario, Canada area in the mid 1800s after my 2nd gt. grandfather, Robert, was born in 1825. Due to DNA matches, I do know that my William is connected to Robert of Strabane and I am looking for info as to how/through who. Any help/info will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you everyone for the replies, greatly appreciated..Yes, most of the info provided is the Robert Lusk Carson I was inquiring about.. There is a grave stone that states that his name was Robert Lusk Carson, however it is correct that the year of death was incorrect.. He died in 1897 and not 1896 as stated on the grave stone.. Jane migrated to the U.S.A. shortly after Robert's death in 1897 so though interesting, the info with Jane living with a son Robert in 1901 and dying there in 1910 is not Jane Bell Carson, widow of Robert Lusk Carson.. Those records must match up with one of the other persons from the Carson family from which Robert Lusk came from.. The info on the Lusks is very interesting and I was afraid slim and hard to find.. DNA matches with persons that are descendants of the Lusks that migrated to the states in the early 1700's are indicating there is a possible connection, one I may never find.. Thank you all again.

I am looking for any information on Lusks from county Antrim.. My 2nd gt. grandfather was Robert Lusk Carson born approx. 1811 from Armoy.. As his middle name was Lusk and due to DNA matches to other Lusks, I am sure either his mother or grandmother was a Lusk..  I am also looking for information on a Nathan Lusk, born county Antrim approx. 1675 and migrated to Virginia, USA prior to 1700. His father was a William or John Joseph Lusk, born around 1654, perhaps either county Antrim or Scotland. His wife was listed as an Elizabeth Hayes.  Sorry I dont have any other info to narrow down exact area.

My paternal grandmother was from Armoy.. If you checked the info from the link for the Armoy cemetery, Robert Lusk Carson has a grave stone there, he is my 2nd gt. grandfather.. If you are interested, I may be able to put you in touch with some folks that may have some info.. I am in the US but have made Armoy connections in my search for my grandparents.. Let me know and I will send you info via pm.

Midlothian / Re: John Bell-Ann Paton

Thank you everyone for the replies.. I am getting my info second hand.. A gal in Australia is his grand daughter and is seeking more info on him.. I came across her post in a DNA site and because I have Bells in my tree as well, ran a Gedmatch check.. Though we are below the 7 cM's threshold, we match as do I and her sister and another John Bell descendant on several segments, 5.5 cM's the highest.. So we are trying to find his parents names.. He died Oct.8, 1907 in Brunswick, Victoria, Australia listed as 73 at time of death.. There was a notice in the local paper of his death, that is where she got the date.. She has not yet located a death certificate.. Ann Paton died Aug. 29, 1902 in Brunswick also.. Children that I know of are Agnes Brown Reid, Annie, Mary Agnes, Thomas, Sarah, Margaret, John, Janet, and William.

I am hoping to find information on John Bell, born approx. 1834 in Edinburgh, Midlothian.. He wed Ann Paton, (born approx. 1835 in Angus, Scotland) on Feb. 10, 1854 in Lasswade, Midlothian.. They migrated to Australia in Oct. 1854 where they raised a family and both died.. I am hoping to find the parents of John Bell or suggestions where I can find that information.. I am not familiar with Scottish records so any help will be greatly appreciated..

Does anyone know the history of the Leggahapple Quarry located in Moyaver, Armoy, county Antrim or where I might find info on it? They mined basalt stone there.
