Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Re: Bell, Grocer, Fruiterer, Hull
« on: Tuesday 16 November 10 18:55 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Isobel
The census info confirms what I have found - I think the George & Henry Bell in the census have the middle name Senior

The story is;
Amy Green married James Attwood in Hull.
They had 5 children (surnames Attwood)
Amy then 'runs away' with Henry Bell (known as Harry) and is found in Salford, 1911
Amy takes 2 of her children to Salford (they call themselves Bell)
in the meantime her husband James Attwood is in Hull with the 2 remaining / living children

while in Salford Amy / Harry Bell have 4 more children (2 sets of twins all died at birth)

Amy / Harry return to Hull (1913 ish) where they have 3 more children - Leonard Bell (my grandad), Marion ATTWOOD Bell & Morton ATTWOOD Bell !(certs state Harry Bell as father)

1923 - Amy marries Captain William Richards in Cardiff - 2 of her sons Sydney Attwood & Leonard Bell live with her in Cardiff. 1 remaining son James Attwood stays in Hull

Never found a death for her first husband, she never divorced him, never married Henry Bell.
On all birth certs, father is always Harry Bell, grocer / fruiterer
According to Leonard Bell's marriage cert, (1936 Cardiff) his father was GEORGE Bell - merchant - deceased ?

Hi

Thanks for the replies

I have found that J Division was Bethnal Green - Met Police.

The name PC Rose was written much later, so there is no guarantee he is called Rose
The name Frank Rose - he is my grandfather - I have yet to find any relations who were policemen during this period.

I have a suspicion that the officer may be Henry Rose b1906 Lewisham ? a nephew of Frank Rose

Hi
Searching for the parents of HENRY SENIOR BELL b 1881 Sculcoates

I believe he was a grocer / fruiterer and lived at 76 Northumberland Avenue (1918)

There is a suggestion that his father was George Henry Bell, mother Lucy A Lowe (or Mary A Senior)

He had a brother George Senior Bell

Would anyone know of any kind of fruiterer / grocer register for Hull aroung this time ?

Regards

Rob
