So from my original post on this thread, would anyone have any suggestions on what collections I ask the researchers to look at please?

Thanks in advance.

Just to advise anyone looking at this that there is a long and involved thread about the Thompson/Cain family here, which I would recommend reading

https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=835621.msg7007581#msg7007581

Thanks JenB, You are correct on this, as like I state I have been looking at this for years, but these are questions I have still not fulfilled. This is now why I’m looking at paid research to try help me resolve this.

Also some info in the old thread is incorrect after many purchased certificate.
The sibling to my grandfather stated in this is not correct.

Looking for advice on what collections to ask them to look at.

Thanks

Morning

I’m wanting to request a paid research from the Tyne and Wear archives as I can’t fit the visit in between work and kids! And this is 3 people I have researched for years!
But I need to advise what collections I would like them to look at. “specific research question is asked and the exact record set to be searched is specified”

Any advice on what to suggest to find out the following pls?

Joseph Thompson
B: 05.03.1905 Wallsend
M: Oct-Dec 1930 Eliza Jane Alderson
D: 30.06.1983 North Tyneside
In 1911 Joseph and his dad are boarding at the Old institute, Seghill, Northumberland.
Joseph attended Industrial School in 1914 after attending Buddle school, wallsend. Record has his DOB wrong I think it states Feb 1905.
Which one? How long? Why?
He told family he was orphaned and brought up by nuns. Where was this?
***Record set: Buddle School admission for this one***

Joseph Thomson
(Son of John Thompson & Mary Foster)
B: 19 Oct 1876 Gateshead
M: 28.03.1908 Newcastle Mary Ann Cain (1st Wife)
M: 27.01.1923 North Shields ( Lily Kennedy)
D: 9.051.936 Penge, Kent
Joseph snr moved to Kent with his new family leaving Young Joseph behind. (New wife’s family not happy with her choice of husband)

Mary Ann Cain (Kain)
(Daughter of William Cain & Mary Pearson)
B: 16 Nov 1884 Newcastle (Dog leap stairs)
M: 28.03.1908 Newcastle
D: Unknown ??
Mary (Thompson) looks to be possibly at the workhouse in North Shields in 1911 a Charwoman. But registered as single.
She died before 1923. How? When? Where buried?
Did she have more than one child?

Any suggestions would be appreciated as it’s paid by the hour.

Thanks in advance.

Does 1939 birth date for William match the one showing on Find a Grave 15 Dec 1884?

Yes the 1939 register matches Williams DOD as 15 Dec 1884 :)
