Durham / Re: Missing McGee from Felling.

Hi. I am descended from James Mckee b 1825. He would be my 1st cousin 5 times removed.  He was married to Mary Jane Hamilton .  She had 4 brothers, George James, Joseph and Robert.
They had 9 children in 16 years - Betty Ann, Edward, Robert, James, Mary Jane, Nancy, William, David and Thomas. Whilst I’ve been working on other aspects of my tree I’ll have  look at these ones.
They were born in different town lands in County Armagh, ballyshiels, ballymore, corlust, mavemacullen and Markethill. All really within walking distance.
Mary Jane Hamilton’s father was b 1799 in ballyshiel and died 1873, corlust. He was married to Mary Hamilton b 1795 and died 1875 corlust, Co Armagh.
Hope this helps.

Through our DNA links with descendants in Illinois USA.
They have the information re James Hamilton being the father, born 1799, tynan, Co Armagh. Served in 82nd reg of foot from 1818-1826.  Then first son William Henry born 1827.  Which makes me think he married 1826/27 but I can’t find a marriage to ascertain his wife’s name.
Thank you.

Thank you for links to Illinois USA. Though the William henry Hamilton in our tree was  born earlier - 1827

In relation to William henry and Robert F Hamilton we have them leaving Ireland - William in 1851 age 24 listed as a stonemason,  and Robert later. They both served in the military in USA and we have those links

Their father James we think stayed in Ireland and youngest son Samuel was left with ? Someone as there is no record until 1874 when he got married and his name was Samuel Fegan.!!    Why the name change we don’t know. Maybe mother died at birth and brought up by others , couldn’t read or write. It’s a mystery.

Hello everybody. many years ago you gave me information which meant I could track my gggrandmother (flinter/daly) 👏👏
Now I’m on the quest of my paternal gggrandparents - James Hamilton
ThroughDNA we have linked to Hamilton (Illinois)
James Hamilton we believe was born c 1799 tynan Co Armagh. He served in 82nd reg of foot from 1818-1826 when he was discharged (pain thigh)
We can’t find a marriage record to ascertain his wife’s name. Could he have married in Mauritius where they were at that time?
His first son William Henry Hamilton was born 1827 - where we don’t know.
Next children Agnes. Robert F born 1833, and ? Samuel b ? 1835/37
Can’t find record of his death either or where he came home to!
Any guidance would be helpful

Hi,
My husbands name is Liggett. His father was James Stanley Liggett 1914-1982and he lived in Acton a little hamlet outside Tandragee. His Father was also James Liggett and lived Poyntzpass Co. Armagh. Born 1876 - 1892 he married Agnes Anna Gillow in 1913 in Riverside Reformed Church in Newry. He had another son Fredrick Walter Liggett b 1916
James liggett’s father was Thomas liggett b 1814-17th June 1892 ( that’s my husbands g grandfather) he married Ellen  Murphy in 1855. They had 3 children, James (as above) Alexander in 1871 and one other for which I have no name but born 1866. They lived at Ballinagnagh poyntzpass Co Armagh  I’ve only started to look at my husbands side of the family so I haven’t much on it. Hope this helps. Lorna

Hello. In my initial search for Samuel I thought get the coleraine one was a match but now I’m sure it isn’t.
Good to know it was a mistake on the marriage certificate.
From research on John Fegan I believe he died in 1867 which was before samuels marriage in 1874??  Yet not recorded as deceased??  But if his father didn’t know of samuels where about when he made his will maybe they were estranged??
Got the census records ok but can’t find samuels whereabout before his marriage.
We think he may have worked at Raffertys farm near markethill which was his wife’s maiden name but so far nothing found
It’s uphill all the way.
