Hello George,

Check out the website www.ullenhallhistory.org.uk. There is a whole section on Barrells Hall. In my search I emailed the kind people who run the website and they were very helpful, unfortunately they did not have the records for the 1940s that I was looking for but they may have earlier ones, worth a try! I had a quick read and the Hall was owned by the Goodwin Newtons around 1914.
Good luck in your search, I have actually been very successful and have found out all the information about my mums father through this website. An unknown member of my family amazingly found me through one of my posts! So Roots Chat is a good choice.

Kind regards,
Annette.

Herefordshire / Almeley suicide 1941

Does anyone have any information about Edward Joseph Jenkins who died in April 1941, he shot himself in the head, he was a farmer. I'm wondering if it might have been covered in a local paper?

He is buried in the Almeley Wooton Quaker meeting house burial ground along with his wife Amy Elizabeth, formerly Hobby, who died soon afterwards.

The burial ground holds lots of other Jenkins and Hobbys, does anyone know anything about the two families?

Thanks, Annette.

Hi Alemley,

thanks for all that info, I had already discovered the website (see my previous message) and the meeting house and area does seem beautiful.

I am hoping that anyone who is related to or knows anything about the two families will please get in touch.

Thanks again, Annette.

I am looking for any info on the above names in the area of Almeley, Wooton. We think that the Hobby's were Quakers and attended the Friends meeting house there.

Any living relatives please feel free to send me a private message.

Thanks, Annette.
