Hi Peter,

I am afraid you may have sent this query to the wrong person.  I am interested in the Bowles family from Hartlepool.  Long line of Drapers/Haberdashery, something that continued down to the present day.

Good Luck
Kind Regards,
Kiwi

Hi Steve,

It's a small world, after your posting I googled the cemetery and was stunned to find it was huge! something like 42 acres, you have a massive job ahead of you*laugh* Are you there on a working holiday or is the move permanent?  I did the working holiday thing over 50years ago, stayed in London for a while and travelled around.

I was a bit shocked to see some of the cemetery had been reused, not a pleasant thought, the word restoration sounds much more acceptable.

Do you have a grave photo you could email?

I have permission to give you the London area Pinching email address when the private messaging system opens up to you along with mine.  Another Pinching descendant from Horatio Pinching's line is in America, I will ask if he is agreeable for you to contact him.

Kind Regards,
kiwi

Hi again Coloradohighlander,

Well that makes sense, thanks for that, I will make some changes to the 'tree'.

As a bye the way, Steve W, has left a message for me regarding Frances Sophia Wilbore Pinching grave in London.  It is in a state of disrepair I gather due to time and WW2 damage.  Surprising the things that come up isn't it.

I think that you have now made 3 postings you will be able to receive a personal message from me through this board so will have a go and give you my email address.

Kind Regards

Hi Coloradohighlander,

Yes I am in NZ, when you have made 5 postings i will be able to send you a private message with my email address, that way we won't clutter up the board with repeat information.

'My' William Hamilton Ennis Pinching (b1838) was the brother of Horatio Nelson Pinching (b1841) and Richard Lloyd Pinching (b1843) in Walthamstowe.  Their father was Richard Lloyd Pinching (b1796).

Horatio N Pinching (b1841) married Frances Sophia Wildbore and from what I can see lived and died in London.  His son  Daniel Peacock Wildbore Pinching (born 1872) moved to Jersey and went on to have a son Daniel  and that is the son that went to Canada.

At least that is what I have,  I could be wrong, the repeat names make for confusing sometimes.

Kind regards,
kiwi

Hi Coloradohighlander,

Nice to hear from you, I am connected to the Pinching family through William Hamilton Ennis Pinching.  William's second wife was my great grandmother. (think I have the greats right!) William H E would have been your Daniels uncle.

The Pinching's are an interesting family, who travelled far and wide.  Have you been in touch with enigma47 through this board he has a lot of information on the family too. If there is anything I can help you with don't hesitate to ask.

Kind Regards,

Hi Steve,

Well what a nice surprise.  Thank you for getting in touch. I am connected to William Hamilton Ennis Pinching who came out to NZ and settled here.  From the postings on Rootschat you will see that they were all given the most fantastic names which made tracing some of them a bit easier.

You may be interested to find that there are still Pinchings in London, one of whom has been in touch with me and generously supplied me with lots of family information.
The Pinching family certainly travelled settling in NZ, Australia and the USA, some served in the British Army in India as well as the British Navy and HM East India Company.

When you have made three postings the PM (private messaging) system will open up to you making the exchange of email addresses easier.

Kind Regards,
Kiwi

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Elizabeth Tucker 1871
« on: Monday 15 September 14 12:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi Alan,

Thank you so much for the additional information on the Tucker family, as you say there is plenty to keep me busy!

Who would have thought Elizabeth was one of 9 children, there didn't seem to have been much communication after the pair of them left England, although some of the first names are repeated in their own children.

Henry Able Flatman on the other hand was most forthcoming, not much of it true though.  Mind you in the 1800's who would have thought it was going to be so easy to check from the other side of the world. (smile) For all that he was well loved by his children as was Elizabeth.

Kind Regards,
kiwi

Thanks lizdb, looks much more likely.

I take it that is the 1861 in Claypond, Wiltshire.  If it is the right family then the Hannah Tucker witness  at the wedding could have been the Grandaughter, she would have been about 17. (would that have been old enough to be a witness I wonder?)

The occupation of bricklayer only appears once in the records we have here and that was on the wedding cert.

Lots of food for thought

Kind Regards,
Kiwi
