The Common Room / Death cert what happened to baby
« on: Monday 20 May 19 12:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
Ive just obtained the death certificate for my greatgrandfathers 1st wife
She died on the 16th october 1916 aged 28
The cause of death is given as
1 labour at term 2nd october placenta previa
2 secondary malmia pulmonary embolism syncope
I understand the medical side of her death, what i dont understand is  1 says labour at term so that would indicate she gave birth 2 weeks before her death but theres no register of birth, so what happened to baby
Thanks glynn

hi razzle dazzle
the three horse shoes pub is still there, coincidentally right across from the pub is an old stone building now a private home, when i was growing up in the 70s it was a sweet shop but previously it was the local blacksmiths. there are a couple of photos from around 1900 on picturethepast.com just search leabrooks or somercotes.
google earth will show what it looks like now.
i hope this is of interest for you
best regards

hi
the records for hatton are closed for 100 years, i got my great great grandmothers records from warwick records office a couple of years ago, the records are very detailed my great , great grandmother was sent there in 1899 3 weeks after the birth of her second son as a person of unsound mind and perpetual meloncoly the first time she was relased was for the cristmas of 1912, she was released into the care of her sister ( a letter dated 1912 was attached to her records so i saw a few years after 100 years) after that i dont know what happened to her

Nottinghamshire / Re: The Raleigh - Lenton Sports(man)? Bike
« on: Friday 30 September 11 22:33 BST (UK)  »
hi
reg harris was a multiple world sprint champion ( on the track) the same as sir chris hoy today.
reg rides a raleigh was one of the advertising slogans ,he rode in the 50s and 60s and i think he came out of retierment in his 40s to win the national sprint championships
raleigh took over calton cycles in the mid 1980s i have a carlton built in 1984 and was one of the last built at worksop.
the  raleigh record ace mentioned were the record which was black with gold trim made from either 501 steel tubing or more likley 531 tubing and the road ace which was white yellow and i think bits of red the road ace was a top line bike made from either 653 or 753 steel tubinf (the higher the number the thinner the steel/and lighter the road ace was ridden by the french system u team from about 1986/7 to 1989 there main rider as laurent fignon who lost the 1989 tour de france by 8 seconds
in the late 80s raleigh also made the bananna which was a popular bike in the day
hope some of this is of interest
