World War Two / Aircraft Identification
« on: Saturday 04 October 25 15:29 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone identify the aircraft in this photo? Top left is my uncle and other photos suggest he served in Asia. Do these aircraft help narrow down where he served?

Thanks for the help, seems the Indian Artillery is a bit of a mystery

I have copies of my great grandfathers war service in WW2 but am no clearer where he served as I can't identify his regiment. He ended the war as a sergeant serving in the 33/10 Indian Light AA Regt IA. From the information I've found there is no 10th LAA or 33rd LAA in the Indian artillery. Any help much appreciated.

I'd say that's a good shout, and it might fit with the photo in Lewisham as there was an ASC base there at Grove Park?

The photo is an enlarged copy that my grandparents have framed in their hall, I've dug out the original postcard, (the black mark is my mum's graduation photo).

There are what appear to be five names on the back, Gilligan, Duckworth, Mann, Cox, Root. Whether they have anything to do with the photo is unclear but they could be people he served with.

This is a photo of my great grandfather Cyril Powell, but I have been unable to find a record of his service and he survived the war. He was born 1890 and lived in Clydach, Llanelly Parish, Breconshire and was a grocer. The back of the postcard says it was made in Lewisham. Can anyone identify the buttons or shoulder badge, does the braiding on the right mean anything? Any help much appreciated.
