Canada / Re: Newspaper death/obituary notice request
« on: Friday 14 October 22 20:06 BST (UK)  »
Thank you so much AJM and Sandra. Managed to already knock down a few brick walls with this family thanks to the info you both provided. Never had the said William as married before but now know he was, married 1911 in England - Irene was his daughter. His wife Helen and daughter Irene remained in England after William went to Canada some time from 1921 to 1927. Thanks again.

Hello
Am wondering if anyone can find for me a death/obituary notice for a William Osler, died on 10 September 1928 in, I think, Ottowa, Ontario. Born in Scotland 22 Jun 1868. Thanks.

Thanks all and especially Bookbox. It looks like such a record would be held at TWA although like you say it does appear doubtful if records for that particular year have survived. I'll probably get in touch with TWA one way or another to confirm. Thanks again.

Sorry for not posting earlier but was working so missed your replies. Thank you all. I've played round with the newspaper search using the address and coroner's name but still found nothing. His actual date of death was 10th May 1927, died at 74 James Street in Elswick. The coroner's name was Alfred Appleby (pops up in a lot of searches for the time frame "Sir Alfred Appleby, City Coroner" but just not in connection to my person) and the inquest was on 11th May as per the death certificate. Am still wondering about where the inquest records might be held and if in existence, are they available?

Hello Kenny.

His name was Edward Bainbridge but I have checked the Newspapers without a thing showing. I know how he died from his death certificate but was curious as to just what more the coroner's inquest might reveal hence my query about obtaining such.

Thanks.

Northumberland / Inquest after suicide
« on: Thursday 16 December 21 12:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Have come across a suicide taking place in Elswick, Newcastle in 1927. Death was registered in Elswick and death certificate mentions inquest taking place the day after the death. Anyhow, my question is about the inquest. Will the inquest records from that time still be retained, if so where would they be held (Woodhorn, TWA) and can they be obtained?
Thanks in advance.

Armed Forces / 2nd Boer War

Was just wondering if someone was killed during the 2nd Boer War, would their death have been registered back in the UK. Also, is there any kind of register of those that were killed?
