Cambridgeshire Completed Lookups / Re: Linton Parish Baptismal register lookup, 1835

Dear Keith,
Thanks for trying.  I wonder why they put the asterisk in the online register?  Got my hopes raised.  I guess that line stops there for now.  Again, many thanks.

Regards,
Pearce

Dear Keith,
Thanks so much for your kind offer.  I am rather curious, to say the least.  The new Y is on Grosvenor Street, by the way, should you ever make it back!

Cambridgeshire Completed Lookups / Linton Parish Baptismal register lookup, 1835
« on: Saturday 25 March 06 18:47 GMT (UK)  »
If someone has access to the Linton Parish baptismal register, I would appreciate the following information.  The online index lists Selina Gibson, bastard daughter of Anne, baptized in 1835 aged 21 days, and contains an asterisk indicating that there is more information in the register for this entry.  If anyone has access, could they possibly tell me what that extra information might be?
Many thanks,

Dear David,
Thanks for your very prompt reply.  I guess that I am rather left with a mystery, however; was Anne Gibson related to Benjamin Gibson, which is the name Selina gives for her father on her marriage certificate?  I guess the quest continues, but thanks for the information.  The female line is extended two generations more!
Regards,
Pearce

Cambridgeshire Completed Lookups / St Andrew-the less, Cambridge census, 1841/1851
« on: Saturday 25 March 06 13:15 GMT (UK)  »
Would someone be able to check the 1841 and 1851 census of the parish of St Andrew the Less, Cambridge for one Selina Gibson, baptized about 1835 in Linton, Cambridgeshire?  According to her 1857 marriage certificate, her father was Benjamin Gibson; according to the baptism index, however, she was the bastard child of Anne, whose surname is not recorded online at any rate.  Would be interested in knowing Anne's surname and any other family recorded.
Many thanks,

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Re: 1841/1851 Census Ashcott/Bridgwater Area
« on: Wednesday 22 March 06 03:14 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Kris & Phil.  I guess the next step will be to order the parish register for Ashcott & perhaps Bridgwater through the Family History Centre here.  This is likely the right John Jeffery though.  Many thanks.  Pearce

Thanks very much.  You've actually resolved a mystery for me.  John Jeffery, who was by profession a baker, died young in 1865 and left a son, Arthur, who ended up in Reigate School in 1867.  His next of kin is described as his grandmother Baker.  I thought this too was a professional description, but having seen your results of the 1841 census, I'm starting to get another picture.  Again, many thanks.

Would someone please check the 1841 and 1851 census for Ashcott and surrounding area for a John Jeffery (Jeffrey etc), son of James Jeffery, born about 1829?  In the 1861 census he is living in Bath, gives his place of birth as "Ascott", but family was from down around Bridgwater, so I assume Ashcott was intended.  Would like to confirm birthplace and any other siblings, mother's name etc.  Many thanks,
