Thanks, Jim.

I will have to try a more global Warwickshire search then.

As to the option of being a Catholic: there were no signs of any later on, not on hiss marriage record. So perhaps not the reason for not being in your list.
Where you say the records stop at 1774, is that because they got lost/ destroyed, or that you just don't have them please?

Jim

The 1841 census is ref H0/107/1138/23

the record I believe is for my man, the left hand page bottom 3 records.
However, here he is originally transcribed as Jany Tomlin but this clearly says in the original: Jerry
he is there with wife Ann and stepson Noah Shawd which should be SHAW, from Ann's earlier marriage.

Notwithstanding here the surname is TOMLIN, everywhere else it is TOMALIN.

There you see all 3 were born in the county.

The marriage of Jerry (for Jeremiah elsewhere) and Ann is the copy of PR for Willoughby that I attached to my first post. There the names are correct.
As to whether it is BILTON, BILSTON or BILSON in the Marriage record, that is what I was asking for a lookup of the original. then that will clear it up.

I hope this gives you the necessary information to help now please?

Eric

Jim there is no census link from the image I attached, of a Marriage in 1809.

I just gave the groom's DOB as about 1772, based on my calculation from his age shown as 89  in the (1841) census. That census was for Sawbridge I seem to recall, but I have not a copy since it did not form part of my records.

I just gave the date so you would have some idea which years to look through -ie 1772 +/- say 5 and if not successful, say a few more.

I hope that helps.

Could someone please look at the Willoughby Parish Register and check the Marriage record for:
24 April 1809 Jeremiah Tomalin and Ann Shaw.

I have it from an Ancestry search, but image is too feint to read the Parish of Jeremiah - looks like BILSON and the inserted word immediately thereafter.

Then, taking the Groom's Parish, can you see if his possible baptism date is there. I estimate this is 1772 from later Census records.- if its not too much trouble please?

Thanks, Eric

YEs, I got that.
But I (we) are still left trying to find the marriage date and then the cert. for Thomas + Mary b 1844.
As the first child I know about is charlotte, and she is b Alverthorpe so i was thinking along the line of a Marriage in Alverthorpe.

This note was a reply to CaroleW.
Sorry, AVM I had not meant to upset you!. I had not noticed you joined in, as I was busy slowly writing one reply.
Hope we are all in step now.

YEs, I had them. The Mary here is the one who appears as the Mother in Law in 1881 though as age 82. the one I think marries my Thomas (b about 1843) is also b Ardsley, 1844ish.

I forgot to add: the Ardsley I am speaking of is I think the one between Wakefield and Bradford, rather than the one near Sheffield. Or further away. Eric
