Have you tried the Ask a Librarian at Morris Library, the Archive Depository?

http://libguides.lib.siu.edu/askalibrarian

No I haven’t, but I will give it a shot. Thank you! I will report back on what I find.

I contacted the Library and they referred me back to IRAD. Which where I started originally. I think Im going to try to find a local genealogist in Southern Illinois to see if they could assist with IRAD... Not sure what else to do short of going myself.

Have you tried requesting a death search from the above?  It looks like they've completed the entry for Clinton Co. deaths 1877 - 1915.

I apologize for my late reply, I guess I missed my email notification. I have made two attempts by writing. The 2nd I sent by certified mail last year but no response. Its been a little frustrating.

listed here with perhaps some news clipping etc in the St. Louis Library -- email address to request information

Thank you Genealiza!.. I have not come across this information before. I will following up.

Genealiza,

Sent my request in for assistance on Albert Ilbery based on the information you provided. Unfortunately they were not able to give much information with exception of what the city directories provided... Simply that he was a photographer. They also looked in St. Louis news papers of the time and there were no advertisements listed. I get the feeling Albert didn't have the money or maybe the business sense to to advertise his services. Ugh!...

Just wanted to let you know how it turned out... Thanks for your assistance.

Hello everyone,

I have been involved in genealogy for about 9 years now helping others with their family tree's and my own. As with everyone, I have had my own "Brick Walls" to negotiate and one of them had been my Great Grandfather on my Fathers side. I had invested much time on searching and analyzing information about him and finally had that break through moment. I was pretty ecstatic about this success and was ready to move on to the next challenge when I made a little discovery.

About 10 years ago, my Grandmother passed away and in her will I was given a record collection she had.. We used to enjoy listening to her records and she had told me "One of these days you will have these and will get to play them with your kids"... Well, that day came and I received the albums which I keep in the office. They are old 78's mostly from the Big Band and earlier eras and I have Victrola that I can us to play them. Yesterday, I had picked up one of the albums to play, one that I wasn't a big fan of but since I haven't played it since I received it I said maybe my taste has changed so lets give it a go.

I pulled the album out of the sleeve so I could I put on a player and a smaller album in a sleeve fell out with it... It hit the ground but fortunately it wasn't damaged. This was a head scratcher, what could this be?.. I don't ever remember my grandmother having album the size of a 45 before.. But I guess she apparently did.  I picked it up, and read that it was an NBC Studio New York Novelty Album made in 1931. I goggled what this Novelty record was about because I wasn't very familiar and found out there was machine that you could speak into and would put your voice on record. After taking a closer look it had my Great Grandfathers name on it!! That blew me away. I had invested huge amount of time researching him and felt like I knew him personally and now I would be able to hear his voice!!!

I'm a little afraid to put it on the Victrola to play because I think the the needle would damage the album and don't have standard turntable. What I would like to do is find a company that could assist me in taking the record and ultimately creating a audio file that could be played on a computer.

Is there anyone that has experience doing this or could advise me on the pitfalls if any in doing this?

I'm located in Texas.

Thank you in advance.

What information were you hoping that the death certificate would provide?

This looks like it might be the person you were looking for, although it's a shame that it doesn't mention what town he was born in (in Switzerland) and it doesn't show the name of the informant (person who reported the death, which is sometimes a spouse).  Also odd that apparently the newspaper doesn't have this obit, but I guess that this sometimes happens.

********************************************************

What my expectation on the death certificate was to get the date of death, location possibly information that would tie back into other family members like perhaps a family member signing the death certificate to verify his identity. I am very familiar with this death certificate which I have put in my Ancestry.com Shoe box. Based upon whats documented, this would not be Albert Ilbery, with that said... I think there must be some type of relationship between William Ilbery and Albert Ilbery but have not truly invested time to investigate this route. Perhaps going through William I might find something about Albert.

Not much help but an observation.

The 'i's seem to be dotted i.e. the surname of the bride may be Walless?

Annie

Do you think also that at the end of her name it maybe a “y” with how the writing dips down?  By the way,  your old Geneologist saying in your profile is hilarious.. :-)

That same article says the St. Louis location was closed following Albert's death.  Is it logical to surmise that he was in charge of that studio and was living there when he died?

Agreed. Or maybe he lived and Breese, Illinois and commuted back and forth weekly?.. I see that the distance is pretty far for the 1890's for a day trip. I got a distances of 48 Miles one way. Since it doesn't appear that the state governments don't have documentation about his death I think there must be something documented by a Newspaper or at least a church. Strangely , there was no info in the St. Louis Paper which I would thought it would have reported death if they knew about it.
