Hi Ienna
James’ military records show that he served in Indian from 1857 - 1859 so it can’t be the same James Logan who died in 1858?
I have the birth certificates for Alexander and his siblings

Hello Ienna and Laura
We definitely have some connection here
David Logan married to Helen Logan are my great great grandparents. Like you I have visited East Linton.
Their son David married Sally Smith. Their daughter Margaret was my grandmother. I knew that she talked of relatives in USA
I have over 20 years research on the family and I think between us we might find some answers. You will note from the early correspondence that James Logan (born about 1825) was in the Gordon Highlanders and moved around a lot with his regiment. That has made some fact finding difficult

Are you just hoping for living relatives to read this, or do you want further information on  the family?

For some reason I wasn't alerted to the fact that you had replied to my posting.
In short, both would be nice! I hold loads of information on Donald and his family prior to their move to Australia. Any living relatives may be interested in this.

Maureen - we have a connection!
I have John Crab who married Isobel Hampton 17/3/1753 at Fordoun, Kincardine, Scotland.
They had 6 children - Margaret Crab (my gggg gandmother) born 3/8/1757 married Alexander Tevendale 12/12/1778 at Fordoun.
I will look out my records and e-mail you direct.

Hi John my interest is Margaret Crab DOB 1757 Fordoun, Scotland m. Alexander Tevendale 1778. They had 11 children that I have found & one, Mary Ann Tevendale, was my GG Grandmother. Margeret Crab had at least 4 siblings of which one, William, was her twin. She also had two half siblings. John Crab, her father was married twice & I have all those details if you would like them. John's DOB 12/4/1726 death 6/9/1809. John's father was Robert Crab & grandfather James Crab. I am trying to find Robert's DOB & date of marriage & to whom. I think it may be to Margaret Carneggie in 1720 but have not proved this link yet. Perhaps you could help?
Cheers
Maureen

I think your James was from Perthshire. Mine is from Edinburgh and definitely had no Joseph in the tree.

Sorry
