Thanks Jill-you responded far faster than I imgained!  Yes last night my mum was filling me in on my history as she is over visiting currently from Manchester and we said we must see if we can locate where abouts the Waterford they hailed from to go one day (As I relocated to Dublin in 2011) I can't imagine I am confused as the names all seem to match how crazy! I only typed Joseph Dorney Waterford into Google by chance this morning and this forum was the top chat! I shall show her this site so she can join as she probably has more info than I ; & yes we would love to compare histories/see what you have found in your searches. Sorry to hear about your late husband by the way x

Not sure if you still check this Jill but I just came across this on a Google search, I believe my great grandfather was a relative of yours, he was Joseph Dorney who was born in Manchester England but his father was a musician from Waterford also named Joseph Dorney (his parents were Augustine and  Ellen)
