Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Which Dalton
« on: Monday 18 February 19 21:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I cant find anything to suggest a connection to a Mary Shemelds but plenty to connect him to Margaret Dale. I've found the marriage to Margaret and records for their children too x

There is always the possibility of there being two Thomas Readman but I think I'm on the right track x

Hi

Yes this is my Ancestry name too! What is yours?
Have you got sources for Williams Mother? I'm torn between her and Margaret Dale but it's been a while since I tried it again so plan on going back over Thomas and his spouse tonight.

Maria is most definitely Ferguson but maybe mis transcribed as Farkinson?

Drop me a message on Ancestry any time. What relation does it show that we likely are?

H x

Hi Jay,

Maria Ferguson and William Readman are my 4th G Grandparents ( I'm a Readman )
Do you have any information on Maria? I've been working my maternal side but now on paternal and starting to look into Maria x

I have found her in all information as Ferguson and she was born in Dalton, Near Richmond, Yorkshire

Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Mary Susannah Hunter b abt.1860 - Help Needed!

If the certs confirm that the Joseph and Margaret on the 1881 census were 'your' Mary Susannah's parents, which is highly likely, then this may also be of interest.
I got nosey about the girl who was born c 1871 in the USA,  between the one born in Dunston and another born in Boosbeck.

That image shows a passenger list including Joseph, Margaret and the eldest girl Eleanor travelling fromLiverpool on the Wm F Storer, arriving in New York 19th May 1870

If you page back to image 19, that is where the header page for the ship is (though its not easy to read)

In case you aren't aware, you can now order .pdfs of a birth entry in the original register, rather than an official cert via the GRO site search for the birth and then choose which option you want.
.pdf is £6 , cert is £9.25

Boo

Ok - Ill attempt this now!

1881 -

Joseph J. Hunter   38

Annie Elizabeth Hunter   10
Mary Sussanah Hunter   5 b. Boosbeck, Yorkshire
Edward Moore Hunter   8
Ernest Hunter   3

This could be correct however the marriage cert would be your best option.

JJ

Thanks so much! I'll order it tonight and wait on that coming - will let you know who is right :-)

This has been the thing that's thrown me too! Carlyle was married twice, first to a Mary Jane Lax then to Mary Susannah Hunter and there's just too many bloomin' Mary's!

I have a lady who married 3 times, each time her husband was called Robert! Maybe they had pillowcases with names embroidered so they looked for a new spouse who would match them :-)

Saves on any embarassing moments!

Just beat me to it Keyboard, but she's down as being 30 in 1891, 25 in 1901 and a free search of the 1911 has her as 35.
