Hi James

Thank you for the extra info, a great help.

I can give you more info about the McCarthys, not so much on the Whytes.  We could compare what we have.

Is there a direct message service on here ? ( I only joined yesterday so still finding my way around).  Perhaps email may be a better way to share our info?

Catherine

Hi James
Yes we are related, Joseph Maurice McC was George Whyte McC's brother (Joseph is my grandfather).
Like you I discovered that John and Eliza were married in St Monica's (I have a marriage cert), and that John Stephen died in Archway/Highgate in 1929 (Have his death cert).
I cannot find the birth record for John Stephen, have you got a copy of a birth cert for him? Another child, Patrick was born to John and Jane he was born in 1858.
I was in Cork last summer and visited the Skibbereen Heritage Centre where, with their help, we came to the conclusion that Jane was born Regan, and we found some Parish birth records for Catherine, Honora and Michael!
Do you have a tree on Ancestry?
We may be able to answer some of each others questions!
Catherine

Hi there,
My 2nd Great Grandfather was John McCarthy, married to Jane (maybe Regan).
Did you find any more info on them such as when they were married?
They were my Great Grandfather, John Stephen McC's parents. I reckon they moved to London in about 1850? He was their 4th child, born in Holborn in about 1856, but I can't find a birth record for him.
I see you have the Whytes in your family too.  John Stephen McC married Eliza Jane Whyte.
Be grateful for any info you have on this strand of the family.
Kind regards
