World War Two / Re: Help reading my granddad's service records!

Hi Andy
Thank you so much for your detailed reply that was helpful!
I wish I'd asked him more now while he was still here but I know he didn't like talking about any of it which makes sense now considering an involvement in Normandy.

But thank you again, you've given me so much to go on and start making sense of it alot easier :)

Thank you so much!
they sent me a little booklet with abbreviations but I'm struggling, not sure if it's just the hand writing or me!
They've advised redacted parts blanked off in white but even just a little help I'd be so grateful x

Hi
I've finally received my granddad's service records from the Mod.

I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me with reading them a bit clearer than I can?

He was a Royal Marine enlisted in Oct 1942, I've got pdf's they've sent me I can post if anyone is able to help.

Id be so very grateful as my dad would be so happy to know what he did x

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Re: GG grandmother look up request

you can't attach to a post on a look up board.

So, she does seem to be the Charlotte of the 1822 baptism found by Rosie earlier in this thread.

Not seeing an obvious entry for him in 1841. There is a George White 60 labourer not born in county in Middle Brook St with a Mary White 25 but haven't spotted a baptism that would tie in. HO107/409/6 folio 37 pg 16

Hi

Yes i think she's definitely the Charlotte Rosie found  :)

I did see that 1841 entry for a George White living in Middle Brook St. but wasnt 100% sure...

Although his son William is living in the same street on the 1851 census with his family.

These Whites haven't made it very easy to track them down!!
