That's great.  Thanks again.

Thank you.

On Charlotte's birth certificate in 1902 it says the fathers occupation is a messenger at an insurance office.

Could Goodwin be a spelling mistake?

Thank you for your quick response.

I am not sure if this is or isn't  the right one as I have matches on many points but other things don't tally.

The facts that I have are in 1900 Frederick John Godwin married Charlotte Hill.  In 1902 they had a daughter called Charlotte (my grandmother).  Battersea is the right area and Charlotte senior would have been about 25 years of age.

On the other hand why is this Charlotte the head of the house if she married in 1900 and Frederick Godwin is definitely around in 1902?

Did another Charlotte Godwin and Frederick Godwin appear anywhere ele on the Census?

Thank you for your help on this it is appreciated.

Would someone please tell me if there are any other people living at the address for Frederick and Charlotte Godwin please.  He is 27 and she is 25.

Thank you.

Have you got Gottliebs birth certificate ? Getting this would give his mothers  name which would give alittle more to go on.

Nicky

I haven't as yet as I didn't find any record of his birth until today.  I think (without stating the obvious) that I need to get a hold of it to clear this up.

LOL Rambler...no doubt the postcard should arrive soon knowing the speed of the Royal Mail

Thank you so much for your help.

It looks like Charles really should be Charlotte as the age of 45 equates with the age of 34 on the 1851 census and the fact they are a widow as opposed to a widower.

Would the eldest son William be down as Gottliebs father though on his wedding certificate if he was an elder brother?  Or would the fact that his father was dead  make no difference and they would put his name down anyway as Charlotte was married to William?

Thanks for the help it is driving me around the bend lol

On the wedding certificate the fathers occupation is a plumber (a little different to dressmaker) and his name is shown as William.

The witnesses were Rudolf Hill and Annie Hill.  From my research on the 1881 census these 2 are husband and wife.
