I too am looking into David Colville (1813-1898) - the founder of Colvilles. He is my 4th Great Uncle. When was your grandfather John born?
We are probably cousins. It would be great to make contact with you.

I hope you are Ian Foster born 1960. If so we are 7th cousins. We are connected through Eliza Mason ( 1808 - 1895) = David Crawforth  (1785 - 1859). I'm cleaning up the Crawforth's on my "Harker" Tree and came across your posts on RootsChat. I too have a very large Excel tree (5000 plus cousins of yours) which you may find of interest.
