Yes, thank you very much for checking it :)   Rickett does sound suspiciously like Prickett and I'm beginning to suspect that something along these lines has occurred. As Sarah Watson she is named on all the birth certificates and DNs as well as her husband's will, so I'm certain of her first name.

Buckinghamshire / Sarah Pridlett? Major John Watson (1720-1799)
« on: Sunday 17 June 18 04:10 BST (UK)  »
John Watson was born in Dornton in 1720 and married a Sarah Pridlett (1749-1840). I was given the name Pridlett and it appears as Sarah's surname on various online trees. My problem is that this seems to be either a very unusual surname or incorrect. I can only find one reference on FindMyPast
I'm beginning to wonder whether this surname was a typographical error somewhere along the line. Sir James Watson was their son and they had other children including my ancestor Mary Anne Watson who was born in Chilton and died in Calcutta.  They were a strong military family and associated with the British in India. Would appreciate any help. Thanks. Susan.

Inverness / Re: Alexander and Clementina McDOUGALL

Was thrilled to find this thread as I have been researching Alexander and Clementins McDougall as well. Thank you for this information, it is a big help. Btw my grandmother was Gertrude Amy McDougall, daughter of William, a son of Daniel McDougall. The Sourh African descendants are well documented but Daniel’s origins were always a mystery to many in the family. He was supposed to have been shipwrecked at Kariegs river mouth.
