Hi
I just came across your post and being an ex Hulme lad can throw light on it if it is still unsolved owing to your post being old. My wife was left a very old copy of an A-Z of Manchester and in it is a City Place listed. The actual street is not on the map and is written in italics. The book states that any street in italics is so small as not to be on the map but will be adjacent to the street written under it. In your case it was Preston Street which was bulldozed in the 60s under the slum clearence programme.
