Wexford / Re: Shudall Family
« on: Wednesday 24 January 18 18:39 GMT (UK)  »
Let me start by clarifying my earlier note - Elizabeth's father was Francis.  Her mother was probably Hannah Jeffares.  This Elizabeth was born too early for me to find her birth records.  I have a possible date of death but do not think it is correct.
In Wexford Jerrares/Jeffaries is just pronounced Jeffers.  The Shudalls have been in Co. Wexford since the late 1600s.  If you trawl the net you will see that Paul Pearce and I have traced this line back to London, where they were by at least the mid 1500s.  Before that perhaps Germany, but more probably France.  Religion varies by line.

Hello Hatslip,

I see that you have been researching the Shudall's for some years now.
I am new to the genealogy sites. I have only been on here for two days. I am a novice, so please forgive my ignorance :)   I have a question, I am a Shudell. My granddad (George Christopher Shudell b 1926; Married to Mary Carmel Dunne) was from Co. Wexford. My question: Are the different spellings of Shudell/Shudall related? what does the different spellings represent?

Also, i noticed in an older post someone was looking for a Jackie Shudall that was the last of his generation.  I wanted to let you know that my granddad had a Jackie as a brother; last name spelled Shudell. He was in the Invasion of Normandy in WWII. I just wanted to let you know; i'm not sure how the difference in spelling relates.

We did not know my granddad's family too well. Recently we have been in contact with my dad's cousin's children and are planning to meet.

Thank you sgf28, Hanesteulu and kGarad. i'm going to look into all of this information.  What a great website this is. I"m glad i joined!

The one with the drowning victim in 1940 sounds like that could be him.  Also kgarad: I think he may have been born in Ireland.  My grandparents moved to England from Ireland in the 40's.

Thank you. I'm going to check into this information. If there's anything else you come across, i would be grateful for the info. i'll let you know what i find out.

I'm looking into the history of my grandad's line. My grandfather, George Christopher Shudell, has a father named Christoper Shudell. He lived in England. He was a Merchant Marine. All i know on his death is that he passed away sometime between WWI and WWII; more specifically, between 1926-1939. I understand that he died coming back from Australia.  I don't know much about my grandfather's family at all. I do know my granddad had a sister and brothers named: Jeanette,  Jackie (male; not sure of spelling), Lee and Francis.  Jackie was in the invasion of Normandy  World War II

Hello,

I am Mary's granddaughter, Alisa. Daughter of her deceased son, Paul. I see my cousin Isaiah and Uncle Tony/Anthony have replied to you as well.  She has one male sibling, his name is (*)(still living- in Ireland) and his wife, which may be your mothers relative you are speaking of, is Wendy (I'm not sure of her maiden name), she passed away quite a few years ago. I see that I must make two posts before I can receive a message. so i will make sure to post another one. Were you able to reach out to Isaiah and send the certificates?   You may want to respond to my Uncle's Anthony's post as well.  Thank you for taking the time to reach out. I am curious, your mother, what was her name?
