The new Liverpool Museum at the Pierhead has the actual carriage suspended at high level together with recreated station, many years ago this used to be exhibited in the large objects collection in Princes Dock

Just a slight correction to your memory .WH. Smith now occupies the old Coopers building.Next to it used to be C&A's which is now Next(no pun intended).Do you remember at easter time coopers used to have live chicks in the window
Ah nostalgia is not what it used to be

Hi
Trying to trace my GGF roots and ancestors. He was William James (Jas) Stalford born in Ireland abt 1858.he is not on the census prior to his marriage in cumbria in 1878 to Jane A Askew of Longtown(cumberland)
Their first child Annie Mary was born in Longtown 1879 ,the second Samuel J in Appelby(westmorland) 1881
I cant find them on the !881 or 1891 census, presumably they were in the Uk at this time.
They next appear as a family in Liverpool on the 1901 census.
Has anyone any ideas on the missing years, or where he may have come from in
Ireland ?
regards Norman
