Hi Squarejay

Same Family as my Husbands. I have a list of children, but not all the marraiges but Timothy was single, died 1876 in Edinburgh. Marraiges I have are James to Agnes Thorburn, Mary to James Pennycook, Agnes to John Stirling

I have a Timothy born 1789 Coldingham, but no marraige for him. His siblings used the name Timothy for their children too. What date did was your Timothy born?

Hi

No Margaret Thomson listed neither, apart from OPR's or Church Records I don't know how you will go about proving they are yours.

Some of my Husbands families were living in Tranent & surrounding areas, but very few seem to have Stones. Lots of people were buried in graveyards but could not afford memorials, which makes it harder for us to find them,

Hi Folks
Sorry for late replies

Poppy10 - sorry no mention of these name,. and no
Gavines

Rindercella - No matching names, don't know when the last burials were at old Churchyard, but the large district churchyard was opened in 1920.

Lous_Moon - No mention of a gravestone, just a listing in the Notes at end of book.

Ross & Cromarty / Re: SUAINBOST OR SHAWBOST, LEWIS??
« on: Wednesday 26 May 10 13:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi
As I holiday every year on Lewis I can tell you that Suainbost(Swainbost) is up near Ness. It is not the same place as Shawbost. Fivepenny would, I guess, be about 10 miles from Suainbost.
According to Wikipedia, there were 4 Civil Registration Districts on Lewis.
Barvas, Lochs, Stornoway and Uig.
So Suainbost would come under Barvas, for Registration purposes.
So all may not be lost.
Hope this helps
