I recently found that William Penfold served with the Army Service Corps (ASC) as a private. He was discharged on 25 Feb 1916 due to "sickness". He enlisted on 15 July 1915.

Haven't been here for a while but as usual found my way back to the Traies family.

I have been wandering around your site for hours haha ... and Came to the same conclusions you did re: Samuel T who married Wilmot Bawden. That baptism of 1726 where Sam is s/o Sam and Sarah could be incorrect as there doesn't seem to be any others being born to that couple..... OR was there another married Samuel in Crediton at the same time?

Anyway I wanted to know who John Traies b 1762 living in Crediton belongs to? On IGI they have him as s/o William and Mary.  In 1841 he is transcribed as John Traces, 79, shoemaker living with Elizabeth A Traies 72. Both born in county.
BTW there is also a William "Traces" b 1794 also living on the same street ...High Street. His age is hard to read ...to me it looks like he's 77 so bc 1764.

Could John (1762) possibly be the son of William (s/o Samuel and Elizabeth Creese) who was mentioned in the Will but no baptism has been found.

OR is John b 1762 s/o William and Mary Bond OR s/o John Traies (m1760 Mary Porter) who became a shoemaker in Soho, London.

Hi everyone,

I hoping someone can help me with details of a death.

George Thorne Huxtable was b 1822 in Devon, England. According to family notes he died in Africa, date unknown. I'm assuming they meant South Africa 

He is last seen in the 1841 census with his parents and siblings living in South Molton, Devon.

Yesterday I found an article in the Grahamstown Journal:
"DIED at Cradock on the 29th Aug. 1853, George T. HUXTABLE, after a short illness of four days."

I am hoping that this is my George. Is there anyway I can find/order a death cert?

I would appreciate any leads.

I reread some of our threads and found that what I had posted today had already been found.... Just Google Mrs. Sanigear. 

I also saw that we are on another thread although drykid has posted stuff regarding Nat and his bookshop on Percy Passage here. Regardless it's fun to be back on the hunt.

Another thought ... we have missing people and their deaths:
We have never found out what happened to Ann Fox (she still drives me nuts to this day LOL), or Mary Shepard/Bryceson/Ward, her death registration or Matthew Ward, his burial or death reg. I recall that 'granny' Mary Shepard's death reg was found but we didn't buy her cert.

I found this today whilst looking for Matthew Ward.
He was apprenticed in 1803 to a Mrs Blackaller, milliner ...maybe that's were his trade as tailor stems from. Apprenticed 19 Jan 1803 - Strand

Also I wonder if this was him, Matthew Ward, Limehouse, ...in and out of the workhouse. At one time he was in as a result of a 'bad leg'.

Matthew Ward was a tailor and Ann Fox lived in the same flat/room as Sophia olive did in 1841. Sophia was a dress maker as was a Female Powell (can't recall her name) ... I wonder if this was how NB met AF through MW and the dress makers?
