The Lighter Side / Re: Headstones in cemeteries and the GDPR regulations
« on: Monday 29 September 25 21:21 BST (UK)  »
I have sometimes seen these gravestones with the names of living people, particularly children, listed on them.
I photograph gravestones for findagrave and when I make a memorial for one like this, I add the photo but I don't type out the inscription naming the living children. Findagrave instructs us not to name possibly living people in the memorials we create.

If the names of the living are on the gravestone then surely it wouldn't matter if they're not typed out on the inscription - the photograph would include them anyway?

Oh yes, I see what you mean.
If the gravestone is in the public domain then surely GDPR regulations wouldn't apply. Those still living must have given their permission for their names to be added to the gravestone.  ???

Don't know where you've seen that Zaph, the only names on headstones I've ever seen are for dead people. I wonder what the Findagrave website would say about this?

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: Which one is the right Mary Sloggett?

Hello Trevellian
Have you checked any of the original parish registers from the OPC details? How do you know Mary was the second daughter of Jesse Sloggett & Jane Taylor?
There is a Mary Strout on the findagrave website, Saint Endellion churchyard, 1749-1835.

Hello Waughhunter
I'm no expert, but from the 1871 census (FreeCEN) i have found:
Danning, John. Head, Married, M, 30, Ag lab, Birthplace: North Petherwin
Danning, Mary. Wife, Married, F, 24,              Birthplace: Lawhitton, Cornwall.
Piece 2225, Enum district 4, folio 81, P15, Schedule 76.

Baptism from the Parish register (FreeREG):
24th Sept 1871  Thomas Danning. Place: Lawhitton  Church: Saint Michael
Father: John. Occupation: Labourer  Mother: Mary  Abode: Luccombe
Register entry No.664

Baptism from Cornwall OPC:
5th Feb 1902  James Danning.  Parish circuit: Liskeard
Father: Thomas  Occupation: Soldier   Mother: Emelene
Piece 2225, Enum district 4, Folio 81, P15, Schedule 76.

Marriage from Cornwall OPC:
Groom: John Dunning  Bride: Mary Heard  at Launceston Bible Christian Chapel 31st March 1869.

Seems to be a lot of Thomas Danning's from North Petherwin!

I hope this is of some use.  :)

What's the name of the book you're trying to get the pages from?
